IAC Fuel Reserves

The FAA has granted EAA and the International Aerobatics Club (IAC) an exemption from FAR 151(a)(1) to begin a contest flight in an airplane, considering local conditions affecting fuel consumption, when there is enough fuel aboard the aircraft to take off, complete the planned flight maneuvers, and land at the same airport with enough fuel to fly for an additional 10 minutes at normal cruising speed.

Management of this exemption is through the IAC office and you must obtain specific permission from this office to use this exemption. Contact the IAC at 888.322.4936 ext 6574 for additional details.

The current FAA exemption (5745G) was granted on July 2, 2008 and will expire on September 30, 2009. Prior to the expiration date you must contact the IAC office to renew your specific exemption authorization.

You may view the exemption here.
