Chapters - A Great Resource for Homebuilders

EAA Chapters are a great resource for anyone building or considering building an aircraft. Consider the following benefits for homebuilders:

    • Members of your local Chapter often are building the same aircraft you're building. Being able to visit someone locally who has already built that tail section, wing, landing gear, etc. is a huge help!
    • EAA Technical Counselors and EAA Flight Advisors are usually members of local EAA Chapters.
    • Chapters often maintain a tool crib of seldom needed but very helpful tools that can be checked out for a nominal fee. For example, EAA Chapter 186 owns the following tools available for check out by chapter members:
    • Aircraft scales for calculating weight and balance
    • Panel punches
    • Engine hoists
    • 6 foot sheet metal break
    • Metal lathe
    • HVLP Spray System
    • Metal Stretcher and Shrinker
    • Sometimes, Chapters even have a hangar that can be used temporarily for final assembly and flight testing.
